Booth notes
Phoenix is a full mile with a dogleg that turns the backstretch into a passing lane and a wrecking yard. TV still calls it a short track. The car calls it a flat mile. Ryan Blaney won the 2026 Straight Talk Wireless 500 in March. From 2020 through 2025 this desert mile also hosted Championship Weekend — that job moves to Homestead in 2026. The Chase date here is the Freeway Insurance 500 on Oct. 18, mid-Chase, not the title fight. Arizona does not do daylight time; 3 p.m. Eastern is noon in Avondale, 1 p.m. on a Mountain DST clock. Restart the dogleg. That is the whole show.

2020–2025 fall races were Championship Weekend. 2026’s title race is at Homestead; Phoenix’s Chase date is Oct. 18, not the finale.

Fun facts
The dogleg kinks the backstretch. Passes and wrecks start there more than in the numbered turns.
This desk files Phoenix as a flat mile / short-track hybrid — 1.0 mile, low banks, physical racing.
Championship host 2020–2025. In 2026 the finale rotates to Homestead-Miami.
