Booth notes
Martinsville is the oldest Cup track still on the board — a 0.526-mile paperclip with concrete corners, 12 degrees of banking, and a bumper language all its own. Chase Elliott won the 2026 Cook Out 400 after Denny Hamlin led most of the day. The Chase date is the Xfinity 500 on Nov. 1, noon Mountain — penultimate race, still all 16 cars in it under the 2026 cumulative format. You do not pass people here so much as you convince them. The clock trophy is real. The fence is closer than it looks. If you leave without a mark on the right-front, you were not in the fight.

“The paperclip” is booth shorthand. It looks like one from the blimp.
